For many years there have been long drawn out debates about the best places to live and work. There was a time about ten years ago when Washington D. C. and Los Angeles were considered the best cities for working and starting a family. This has changed however as a result of the economy.
Today more people are looking for cities that offer lower housing prices and lower crime rates then Washington D. C. or Los Angeles. Although both of these cities offer a wide range of job opportunities, they both also have some of the highest home prices in the country. In Los Angeles I don’t think you can find a decent home these days for under five hundred thousand dollars. The situation is pretty much the same in Washington D. C.
So just what are the best places to live today? The city of Charlotte, North Carolina has become a very popular city for recent college graduates looking for a job. Many college grads come to the city because they are looking for career opportunities in banking and finance. Many of these type of opportunities are at Bank of America’s headquarters office which is located in Charlotte. Recent college grads also like the fact that they can find decent housing in Charlotte without having to spend a lot of money. In addition, the city is also expanding its light rail system which makes will make it easier for local residents to get around without having to depend on a car.
Another city that is considered a good place to set down roots is San Antonio, Texas. In earlier times the Texas based cities that were considered good places to live were Houston and Dallas. Although both still attract a large percentage of relocatees each year, the spotlight now seems to be shifting on San Antonio. Some of the reasons San Antonio is starting to become a popular relocation city include moderately priced real estate and a large number of job opportunities in the advertising and marketing. Many people may not know this, but there are quite a few marketing agencies and advertising firms in this region. This includes many that design and launch campaigns for the Hispanic market.
Moving further west you will find several other cities that are becoming popular places to live for young professionals. If you can tolerate the cold weather, Boulder, Colorado is considered to be a good place to live and to launch a career. The city offers a lot of outdoor recreational activities and good job opportunities, which is why so many young professionals move there. Many of the job opportunities are with local technology companies and marketing firms. Many of the subdivisions and condo communities are located near ski slopes which is very convenient. The only drawback about moving to Boulder is getting used to all the snow and the cold weather. However. Despite this, there have been quite a few people who have willingly traded in sunny beaches for a chance to build a snow man.
