2014 is going to be a very busy year for tradeshow organizers. This is because there are so many new organizations and associations that are launching new national and regional tradeshows.
For the first quarter of this year you can expect to see a lot of tradeshows focused on technology. As you are aware, technology is always changing. And as a result of this there will be numerous tradeshows being hosted this year by tech based businesses like Microsoft, GE, Apple, Google, and numerous other technology companies. One of the goals Apple hopes to accomplish this year through its tradeshows, is attracting new customers for their new product lines. According to several online news sources, Apple will be introducing a TV and a new eyewear line. I guess this launch is in response to Google Glass. We all know how competitive these tech companies can be.
I always get the feeling that Microsoft host tradeshows as part of a strategy to keep their name in the public eye. At one time Microsoft dominated the technology field, but not anymore. Now the company has to share the spotlight with several other very formidable competitors. In order to reach as many people as possible, Microsoft launches regional tradeshow annually.
We can also expect to see a lot of tradeshows from candy and beverage companies. The beverage industry is also very competitive, so it is very important for them to stay connected to the public. While many depend on social media to attract new customers, these companies also know that the best marketing strategy by far is letting consumers physically see, touch and taste their products. Although Coca Cola is currently a dominant leader in the beverage industry, in recent years it has lost some market share to smaller competitors. One of the things that has caused Coca Cola to lose market share are recent campaigns against sugary drinks. In response the company has created new low calorie options. These new products will likely be featured at their upcoming 2014 tradeshows.
I also expect to see a lot of candy themed tradeshows this year. It is also no secret that the candy industry is very, very competitive. Each year there are hundreds of regional and national tradeshows which are designed to showcase new candy products and flavors. Some of those that participate in these tradeshows are name brand companies like Hershey. Then you have other startup companies that are trying to tap into the candy market. Their primary goal of course is to generate publicity, but many also use tradeshows to see if they can get orders from buyers and retail store owners.
It looks like 2014 is going to be a big year for tradeshows.
