There are just some days when only a warm cookie and hot cup of cocoa are the only things that can calm me down. And given this crazy winter we are having, I have been craving a lot of warm cookies and cups of hot cocoa lately.
When some people get upset or over excited, they want a mug of cold beer or a glass of wine. Then you have others that want a Snickers, Three Musketeers or some other type of candy bar. But not me, when I am upset all I want to do is go into my kitchen and make a pan of cookies and a pot of warm cocoa.
Just this past week I made myself a pan of homemade chocolate chip cookies. I was having one of those days where nothing seemed to be going right.
My day started going downhill at work after one of my clients made changes to a marketing campaign. And I am not talking about minor changes either, this client practically wanted to change all the photos, drafts and messaging. Now keep in mind that I had been working on this campaign for over six weeks. It was a campaign for a television and radio project so there was a lot of work involved. Then just three days before the campaign was to be launched, the client decides to change everything. Well once I got this news I almost wanted to quit. Since this was not financial feasible for me, I just decided to go home and bake myself some cookies.
As soon as I walked through the door at home I immediately went into the kitchen. I looked in my pantry and started pulling out baking soda, baking powder and my baking flour. I then went into my refrigerator and got out of some eggs and bag of chocolate chips. I made my cookie dough, cut it into cookie shapes, placed the cookies on a pan and put them in the oven. While the cookies were baking I made myself a big warm mug of hot cocoa. The smell of those cookies baking and the taste of the cocoa started making me feel better.
Since I was really having a bad day, I drizzled a little melted chocolate over my cookies after they finished baking. Once I started eating those warm delicious cookies, little by little I started feeling better and better. Just to show you how upset I was that day, it took two mugs of cocoa and four cookies to make feel fully calm down.
I am sure many of you have days when you just need some hot cocoa and your favorite warm cookie.
