A neighborhood community party is a great way to get neighbors together and enjoy some great food. There are a lot of easy to make foods you can serve at a community party, and below are a few suggestions.
Seasoned tortilla chips make a great community party appetizer. To make them all you need are several large bags of tortilla chips, olive oil, and several different spices. Spread the chips onto a non stick baking pan, drizzle on a little olive oil and sprinkle on some cinnamon and nutmeg. Set the oven at 350 degrees and let the chips bake for five minutes. The combination of the nutmeg and cinnamon will give the chips a sweet earthy flavor. If you want something a little more savory, sprinkle on some curry powder, cumin and paprika while the chips are still hot. Serve the chips in colorful baskets and place them throughout the party area.
To go along with the seasoned tortilla chips, serve some cinnamon spiced apple juice and some cherry infused lemonade. Serve the drinks in frosted or colorful glasses, along with a slice of fruit and a colorful straw. Seasoned tortilla chips are great appetizers, especially for a large crowd.
Another good appetizer to serve at a community party is vegetable kabobs. All you need are some skewers and two large bowls of sliced vegetables. The best vegetables to use for this recipe are eggplant, green peppers, red peppers, cherry tomatoes and butternut squash. Pre-cook the squash and eggplant, and slice the cherry tomatoes and peppers. After prepping all the vegetables, put them into a large bowl and lightly drizzle on some olive oil. For seasoning, sprinkle on a little cumin, salt and black pepper. Next, start sticking the vegetables onto the skewers. After all the skewers have been filled, place them standing up inside large colorful bowls. To go along with the vegetable skewers, serve some seltzer water with frozen strawberry and cherry ice cubes. You can make the ice cubes with pureed cherries and strawberries. As the ice cubes melt, the clear seltzer water transforms into a beautiful deep red color.
A taco buffet would also be ideal for a community party. Just make sure to have both hard and soft taco shells, at least two different fillings, and a wide variety of toppings. I also recommend having a station or tables set up where guests can mash avocadoes and make their own guacamole.
For dessert I suggest serving two different types of mini-cupcakes. You can serve lemon cupcakes filled with lemon pudding and vanilla cupcakes topped with chopped almonds and a drizzle of honey. If you want something richer, try chocolate cupcakes filled with peanut butter and topped with dark chocolate frosting.
